…Lives From The Coronavirus In Europe "Lockdowns have saved more than three million lives from coronavirus in Europe, a study estimates. The team at Imperial College London said the "death toll would have been huge" without lockdown. But they warned that only a small proportion of people had been infected and we were still only "at the beginning of the pandemic"…"

Gee, only 3 million why not claim 30-50 million. This is just a another study that means nothing. Most of those 3 million were never going to get it in the first place. As pandemics go this one was more about hype then anything else. Inflated number of deaths and study after study claiming this or that. |

It's hard to predict what's going to come of this (whole thing, not just this study). Being global it was an unique experience. Will people believe it was because we self-incarcerated the death count (let alone infection rate!) was so low? I know the governments will sing that olde tired tune to high Heaven. Will people see it as "crying wolf"? I doubt every government will follow these kinds of actions in the future. Especially given the claims for the necessity to self-incarcerate then the very next day support mass protests. If/when the infection and death rates don't skyrocket in a couple weeks think the media will be allowed to make the connected dots announcement?! Try telling that to all the people who lost their jobs, couldn't pay rent, lost their homes because they couldn't pay their mortgages, lost their businesses. |

Data is only up to May 4th, so can probably add +25% to that for another month of reduced deaths. |
Mithmee | 10 Jun 2020 11:42 a.m. PST |
Really but they were never going to get it in the first place. So why not claim far higher numbers? |
Tango01 | 10 Jun 2020 12:40 p.m. PST |
Mithmee… my friend…sorry for said that…. but why so intense against anything about the real pandemic we are suffering arround the world…? Have you see the dead list…?
Have you any agenda…?
I cannot understand well…. Amicalement Armand |

What is humorous is someone claiming a study is meaningless by making unsupportable claims about the "real" rate. It's along the lines of "since I pull numbers out of my ass, all numbers everywhere are pulled out of my ass". |
Mithmee | 16 Jun 2020 10:22 p.m. PST |
Have you see the dead list…? Inflated with gunshot victims in Washington State along with many others. You do know that around 150,000 individuals die each and every day on this planet. Very easy to increase numbers by claiming that COVID killed them. Have you any agenda…? Yes tell the truth and stop the lies. We have had far worst pandemics in the past and there are many questions about this one and with so many studies coming out already trying to state one thing or another. Countries have destroyed their economies for what? Something that will not even impact 1% of the total population, oh and that most individuals will never know that they will have it. This is an over hyped pandemic. |

I'd like to see a stat of the average number of deaths before the pandemic and then the new increase. That would give a better indicator of the impact it is having. The bottom line is, stay healthy. People with compromised immune systems, cardiovascular, and diabetes seem to be the most at risk. Wolfhag |
Mithmee | 17 Jun 2020 2:58 p.m. PST |
Yes I would like to see just how many individuals have died since the beginning of the year and of what. Since as Wolfhag as pointed out are the number of deaths due to: Heart Attacks within what would have been normally expected Cancer deaths within the normally expected Renal Failures within the norms Also is the total number of deaths higher than expected or are they just within the normal expected and only has a slight increase. I would also expect that if the numbers are higher now I would expect some of these numbers to drop in the upcoming months. But we are working with numbers and it is very easy to lie with numbers. |

It will take years before numbers are tallied and compared. By then something else sensational will be all the rage. |
Mithmee | 19 Jun 2020 8:38 a.m. PST |
Wouldn't trust any study that would be done since when they have an agenda to push a certain story the study will show that story. Real easy to do since it is numbers and well you can lie with number so easy. |
Cerdic | 20 Jun 2020 9:06 a.m. PST |
I don't know about US figures, but in the UK total deaths from ALL causes has been running at 150% above normal over the last few weeks. In Italy it is 140% and France (where there was a much stricter lockdown) is nearly 130%. So Civid19 would seem to be having an impact… |
