My friend Brian McKeown's wife just informed me he passed away from the Covid 19 virus.

Brian was a friend of mine here in MA, he lived in Worcester, he was an avid 25/25mm wargamer, he owned over 20,000 painted and unpainted figures. He decided a number of years ago to build dioramas in his basement with his figures and his buildings; Greeks vs Persians, Mongols vs Chinese, a castle siege, French and Indian War, Waterloo, Aspern Essling, Indian Mutiny and the James gang raid on Boot Hill.

He began to suffer from the early stages of Dementia about three years ago, so he decided it was time to sell off his collection. As many of you know, I began this process at Historicon in Fredericksburg in July of 2017, it continues to this day.

At this time, I just wanted to thank each and every one of you for your support with this, many of you stepped up at the conventions and also here via the classifieds to assist me with this, the funds were going to his long term care, the remaining funds will go to his wife to assist her with her day to day expenses.

This is now the second person I knew personally who passed away from this virus, my 94 year old Uncle Harry also passed away on of all days, Greek Easter Sunday.

He was in assisted living too suffering from the same affliction as Brian did.

My Uncle served in the US Coast Guard during World War II, he as a carpenters mate on an LST in the Pacific, participated in a number of operations including Leyte and Iwo Jima, he entered the service at the age of 17 and proudly served his country.

The expression "He's in a better place" rings hollow to me at the moment, both of them were wonderful human beings, Dementia handed them a cruel fate, the virus ended their suffering.

Thanks again everyone, the wargaming community is a wonderful place and I am proud to be a part of it.

Gods speed Brian and Uncle Harry……………….

I can only wish you happy and pleasant memories of both, to remind and refresh you and the families that lost their grandparents, fathers and siblings. May they find peace in time.

Sincere condolences on the loss of your friend Brian
and your Uncle Harry.

Brian sounds the sort of person I'd have liked very much
to have known.

Thanks……………wargaming/figure collecting brought myself and Brian together, I feel lucky and blessed to have known him, very intelligent and witty, my Uncle was a prince of a guy, a wonderful person, a great uncle, a second father to me, he was a gentle soul, never yelled or lost his temper, never said a bad word about anyone.

Thanks; thanks as well to you Bill for giving myself and countless others a forum to converse about wargaming and also to buy/sell items, this forum has come in very handy in assisting me with selling off his collection.
