Retired Marine Lieutenant General Charles "Chuck" Pitman passed away this past Thursday at age 84. He was a three-tour Vietnam veteran and a veteran of Operation "Eagle Claw," the aborted 1980 Tehran Embassy rescue operation.

But is is best known for his participation in resolving a 1973 shooting incident in New Orleans that had already caused multiple deaths, including several police officers.
