Seem to gotten on the wrong end of something.

But he will not be missed.

Col Durnford03 Jan 2020 2:23 p.m. PST

And, I would add, he was not missed.

It's comforting to know, that wherever they go, our drones are sure to follow. grin

But he will not be missed.

Some people in this world consider him a hero and, now, a martyr.

That's true Bill, but they are the sort of people who are welcome to join him I would suggest…..

Some people consider Stalin, Mao, and Pol Pot to be heroes too. Doesn't make them right.

Some people in this world consider him a hero

And some people in this world cannot afford to not be seen in public by their neighbours and whomever else is watching praising him as a hero, just like Stalin, Mao, and I assume Pol Pot.

Mithmee06 Jan 2020 1:37 p.m. PST

That is only because if they were seen in public they would end up the same.

He was genuinely seen as a hero by most Iranians, even those who are not fan of the government.
And the Iranians are not The Soviets or Chinese. There have been massive protests and demonstrations just the past few weeks. So it's not like the Iranian people blindly follow the government.
It's not North Korea.

Only thing trump has managed is to rally the Iranian people together against a common enemy (him)

Yes, well when the Iranian forces organize an amphibious and para drop to invade the USA I am sure they will exact their revenge at that time.

Until then, they will rely on their operatives in the USA to sow dissension.

Now I'd never heard of this guy although I'm far more familiar with Iran, Khomeini, and the Rev Guard than most.

I think those from there are the ones you need tolisten to about this guy.

On Twitter, lots of Brits and Americans wailing and gnashing teeth over the death of someone most had never heard of before tonight.

On Telegram, hundreds of Iraqis and Syrians celebrate the news of Soleimani's assassination.

Disparity could not be more stark.

When you talk of Qassem Soleimani, remember Aleppo, Qusayr, Madaya, and Zabadani, the cities and towns his acolytes starved to death.

Soleimani was a war criminal and nobody in the communities that were subjected to his brutality will shed a tear for him.

No state has been so active, and perhaps as effective, as Iran in regional conflicts in modern times. The list of Iran's actions against regional targets is long: Iranian personnel and equipment have conducted offensive cyber attacks, enabled naval attacks in the Red Sea, and missile and UAV attacks on Saudi Arabia and its population. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' (IRGC's) Quds Force operations have sparked hundreds of Israeli airstrikes against Iranian and Iranian-backed-group sites in Syria. Iran has also maintained small ground forces in Syria, Yemen and sometimes Iraq.

Use to work next to a former Marine who was at the Beirut bombing, use to tell digging out bodies for days.

Who else was killed in the strike? Bodyguards, drivers, who else?
All suitably assessed as worthy of killing? Or just 'acceptable collateral damage'?

Volleyfire15 Jan 2020 3:26 a.m. PST

If you're a bodyguard or driver of someone like that who would be considered a target (that's why they have bodyguards, there's a clue there somewhere) then you have to accept that you could one day take one for the team.
