Just heard this morning that he'd passed on. Found in his apartment unresponsive, but no indications of anything other than natural causes so far. He was 75 y/o. Rest easy, thanks for the music, dude.

The GREAT Ric Ocasek.

The very first time I knew anything about him and The Cars was when they appeared on the old ABC late night comedy show 'Fridays' back in '80 and '82. By the time of their second appearance on that show, I was already tuned into MTV and had become a fan. Ric Ocasek and The Cars were highly successful in bringing New Wave into the mainstream and merging it with Rock & Roll to create an exciting sound to a memorable decade.

Godspeed, Ric, and thank you very much.

And he left a nice bit of pen/paper art; part of which has the message,"Keep on laughin';it is what it is"

I had not realized he was 75 and had divorced from Paulina.
RIP and condolences to his family.
