When Dr Strange, General Zod, Beast and Spider-Man come together…

Wait that is not the Current War this is.

Edison, Tesla, Westinghouse and the war to see those electrical current will win.

This will more than likely be an Oscar contender and with the cast it has should be petty good.

Looks interesting! there's a very good book, "Empires of Light" on the same topic.

Oh no, Hollywood is pushing the "Tesla was an unappreciated genius who was ripped off by the American robber barons" agenda!

Sorry was just lightheartedly channeling Mithmee.

Looks like an interesting film, albeit, not one I have to see in the theatre.

Mithmee27 Jun 2019 12:21 p.m. PST

Tesla was a genius and well both Edison and Westinghouse were in it for the money.

But I wouldn't call either a Robber Baron.

These guys:

John D. Rockefeller, Cornelius Vanderbilt, Henry Ford, and Andrew Carnegie

Were along with a few others.

Tesla was a genius. Edison was a genius too. He is also guilty of being a better businessman than Tesla. And Tesla had backing from his own "Robber Baron", J.P. Morgan.

Apart from that, my Hollywood agenda comment was tongue in cheek. But then I can tell the difference between an agenda and a trope or plot device.

The Tesla-Edison 'feud' has been exaggerated. At one point Tesla's lab burned down and Edison gave him the use of one of his.

Mithmee28 Jun 2019 12:33 p.m. PST

True but who started the fire?

Bowman28 Jun 2019 3:02 p.m. PST

Good grief!

Mithmee, the basis for all drama is conflict. To get a good dramatic film you need to ratchet up the conflict. It's that simple. No conspiracies are required. Like Scott says, the feud is exaggerated to provide a gripping movie.

Also, didn't Tesla work for Westinghouse for a bit? My guess is that he was much too antisocial to keep a job like that for very long.

Good call! I love Nicholasville Hoult and Michael Shannon.
