THE OFFICE of Atoms for Peace (OAP) has warned of excessively high levels of radiation from the so-called "energy cards" that their distributors claim can cure illnesses and help relieve aches and pains.

Why didn't they just sell fake energy cards? People are better off buying snake oil that does nothing than snake oil that tries to do something.

As soon as the government tries to collect these things for safe disposal some people will take that as proof that they are valuable and hide them. So there's definitely going to be some unnecessary suffering there.

They seem to cost $44 USD-48 in a part of Thailand where the per capita income is $1,000 USD per year. So that's roughly the equivalent of charging $2,500 USD in the US.
