….About Human Evolution? "Why do we fish? At some point eons ago, our primarily fruit-eating ancestors put their hands in the water to catch and eat aquatic life, inadvertently supplementing their diet with nutrients that initiated a brain development process that eventually led to us. But how did this begin? Now, according to a research team from Kyoto University, one potential clue may have surfaced thanks to observations of our closest genetic relatives: chimpanzees. The scientists report the first ever evidence of wild chimps habitually catching and consuming freshwater crabs…." Main page link Amicalement Armand |

Can't forget bonobos if you are talking about the similarities to humans and chimps. Bonobos and chimps are the two species that make up the genus Pan. Now bonobos have always been more arboreal than chimps. Therefore, their method of crossing small streams was usually overhead, using tree branches. Eventually, this caused them to lose the ability to swim, unlike chimps and humans. This is why bonobos still live in the same area for millions of years, south of the Congo river. And they are still constrained geographically by waterways. It would be interesting to see if the Bonobo diet also contains the same amount of freshwater crab, given their higher aversion to swimming. |

Humans and chimps are optimistic omnivores, is there really any research needed? Humans found water, discovered easy food source. Eat easy food source. Now where is my Nobel! |
