Got mine last week. 19 scenarios covering the Byzantines/ Late Romans against the Huns, Vandals, and Sassanids. New rules added on to the existing rules will make the game slightly harder for new players of C&C but shouldn't be a problem for Veterans of this system. I'm walking myself through a Solo game right now to learn the new rules. The use of "Inspired Action" tokens and when they can be used is one of the more confusing new mechanisms that will take some getting used to. Overall, it looks like another winner for GMT and the Richard Borger System. I look forward to seeing where GMT goes with the follow up games covering the Feudal, Later Medieval and Crusade eras. I'm hoping down the road they extend this period into the Italian Wars, or they follow the Medieval series with Renaissance games. link |

I will be picking this one up. I have all of the other Command & Colors games. |

I opened this thread hoping to see news of a naval expansion. I'm disappointed now. |

I can see how that is since Uesugi was just stating that C&C Medieval is in the mail. Because I would be all over C&C Ships. Though going to get Medieval as well but going to have to wait on the many expansions before I get to the medieval period that I am really interested in. |

Rim shot for Karellian! Mithmee, glad you're on board for Medieval! I owned all of the Ancients except for the Spartan box. I really loved those games even though I'm more of a Medieval guy when it comes to minis. I tried the Napoleonic expansion but couldn't get into it. So far I've got 4 Medieval game plays under my belt. The new Special Actions and Inspired Actions took a few games to get used to. My first impressions of the new game are that Bows and Heavy cavalry can be devastating. I had the Huns do 14 blocks damage by missile fire alone in one turn. Overall, I'm not as excited about this game as I was for the Ancients. I'm really looking forward to the next Medieval game though. I'm hoping it will cover the Dark Ages in Britain. The 100 Years War and Wars of the Roses games should be really fun but I would expect those for another 3-5 years. |

I gave it a try. It seems very similar to C&C Ancients. In fact the scenarios are from the very early Medieval period, you could almost say late Ancient. I like the new dice, very solid and with no stickers. Heavy Cavalry rules the game. One unit of them can do a lot of damage. An aspect of the C&C series which I don't care for; there's no combined attack. At least with Napoleonic C&C you get "combined arms" which allows artillery and an infantry or cavalry unit to attack together at the same time. So not a bad game; if you like C&C you should like this too. |

C&C Samurai just arrived at my house. Looks pretty interesting. Comes with about 40 scenarios. Though this series of games can be a little daunting for beginning, I'm going to try teaching this one to my nephews. Medieval #2 is almost on the way too. It will be covering the Eastern Crusades. |
