I'm looking for a good 2-player or even solo game that specifically covers the Arnhem portion of Market Garden and NOT the entire campaign in Holland.

Specifically I'm looking for boardgames as opposed to miniature or card based games.

Thanks in advance for any tips.

"Storm Over Arnhem" is IMO the one, the only, the Best. :-)

Agreed.

I am pleased to own Storm Over Arnhem, and agree it is a good game and a good representation of that battle.

SOA does have an unusual initiative system that some people might not like. Some people love it, and it was used again in a D-Day game the name of which escapes me (Breakout Normandy perhaps?), and later by another company for Storm Over Stalingrad (which I have but have not played). I think it's a neat system that captures certain dilemmas in managing an operation. On the other hand, it's only one way to look at it, and it might not be to everyone's taste.

I'm looking forward to hearing any other recommendations.

But if you haven't tried Storm Over Arnhem it is definitely worth tracking down a copy, or finding someone who has a copy and playing with them.

Thank you Gentlemen. That one does seem to have stood the test of time.

I'll have a look at Storm over Stalingrad as well.

Cheers.

I have both SOA and Hell's Highway. Both are good but I have to agree SOA is hard to beat.

Try playing it with a chess clock! :-)

AH did three games using the same area movement system:
Storm Over Arnhem
Turning Point Stalingrad
Thunder At Cassino
I have all three…the last unpunched because my opponent also had a copy.
SOA is probably the best of the three.

I blended the ASL Arnhem bridge battle game and scenarios onto the comparative Critical Hit map version of the Arnhem bridge battle.

The map incorporates the north end of the bridge, and its ramp, and the surrounding town sectors from which the Germans set-up in a large variety of scenarios based on events in the battle.

For me, clearly the best Arnhem squad/ company level game.
This is a link to what seems to be a newer version of the game. Many hours of intense gaming action.
