An intelligent and entertaining drama – but if your reading has ever led you to think that the early 18th century might be quite a bawdy and downright crude time then this film suggests that you are right on the money! Quite stylised filming – reminded me of The Draughtsman's Contract in some ways. See that Olivia Coleman picked up a Golden Globe for her turn as Queen Anne. (and if you're wondering – Marlborough is played by Mark Gatis) |

I thoroughly enjoyed this. Don't wear your critical history hat in when you go and it can be a very good film. I could wait for it to come out and took some of my rare free time over the last two weeks to see it. Totally worth it. |

Olivia Coleman is always worth watching. Well on her way to National Treasure status! |

It's funny – she swears, pukes, stuffs her face and does a pratfall : all the things that were so rubbish in Holmes & Watson, but in The Favourite work very well. Strange thing, film. |

Still not going to watch it. Sure it might not be as bad as H&W but saw the trailer and couldn't finish those two minutes. |

A costume comedy drama and period piece in which ruthless backstabbing women vie for the favour of an impetuous queen-child and the men look "prettier" than the women? What's not to love? |

Never heard of it. Is it in the theaters now or has it gone to on demand now? Matthew |
