I have a Samsung flat screen TV with digital optical output (TOSlink), as well as USB and HDMI outputs, but no analog RCA outputs.
My amp is a circa 1989 Denon PMA-520, which naturally only has analog RCA (phono) inputs.
Obviously I need a Digital to Audio Converter (DAC), but I'd like one capable of handling Dolby 5.1
My search online has found prices from $11 USD and up (some very up) in a number of confusing formats. It's also obvious from reviews that many of these devices are iffy at best.
I'd prefer to keep the cost below $200 USD max (preferably MUCH lower), and wind up with a product that will work and not act as a space heater.
Google has not been my friend, as it tries to send me to shopping sources only (mostly iffy Amazon third-party shops), not comprehensive reviews.
Any recommendations by those with an audio bent are very much welcome!
