"Like every new year, 2019 promises a number of endings and new beginnings—specifically in the form of SFF movies! We have a number of questions regarding the upcoming releases: What fresh horrors will Pennywise visit upon the town of Derry? Will John Wick ever get to settle down? When will the Men in Black show up to flashy-thing us? (Wait, have they used the flashy-thing on us already?) Why is Detective Pikachu so fuzzy? How will we ever survive the wait for the ending chapters of not only Marvel's Infinity War, but also Star Wars?

Here are all the movies we're excited—and maybe just a little bit nervous—about as we head into the new year…"

None of the movies has any interest for me. "Ms. Captain Marvel" is particularly off-putting. I am now an official curmudgeon.

This may seem obvious without saying, but Hollywood will only make movies that will make money at the box office. There are too many bombs this year like 'Mortal Engines,' 'Bumblebee' and 'Welcome to Marwen,' so Hollywood will play it safe with proven commodities like Marvel and kid-friendly fare that pack theaters, or sequels to movies that previously made money, or low budget horror movies guaranteed to generate high returns.

Of those Captain Marvel. Avengers, Star Wars and Terminator.

At the moment the film I want to see is this:

I'd still like to see 'Welcome to Marwen' – the reviews have been mixed with the tendency towards "not so good", but the premise still seems interesting. I'm expecting it'll disappoint, but I'd like to give it a chance anyway. 'Mortal Engines' looked to be undemanding fun in a Hunger Games/Mazerunner way. 'Bumblebee' I'm sort of intrigued by – I hate the Transformers movies, but a lot of reviews have said "this isn't really a transformers movie and is actually pretty good".

I loved 'Bumblebee.' 'Mortal Engines' is alright. 'Aquaman' is better than expected. 'Welcome to Marven' is actually pretty good but may be too quirky and "deviant" for most people's tastes. Don't plan on watching H&W based on what I've seen in the trailer. Next movie for me will be the George W. Bush/ Dick Cheney bromance 'Vice.' Hot Damn!
