The following will make a crap movie actually fun and worthy of being recommended. First, throw away any pretense of history. Next, throw logical combat practices out the window. Then, pretend it's in a Dungeons and Dragons setting. Finally, sit back and wrap yourself in Mendelsohn's and Abraham's performances. Eat popcorn, sip coke, enjoy. |

Sounds like a plan!!! |

Plan to avoid this like the plague. |

I saw the trailer. I'd have to add a lot of Rum to that Coke to sit through it. |
45thdiv | 04 Dec 2018 6:30 a.m. PST |
I'll watch it when it comes to Netflix. |
Col Durnford | 04 Dec 2018 6:42 a.m. PST |
Bowman, I'll see you and raise you on the coke, except in this case I think it should be snorted in great quantities instead of sipped. The only thing missing from the trailer was shield surfing. Full pass on the movie for me. |

From the trailer it looks about as bad as the last King Arthur disaster of a movie (the one that was going to launch a franchise of 7 films but actually just fizzled out when no-one went to see it). |

Robin Hood, King Arthur, Three Musketeers, why is it that there seems to be a new one of these movies coming out every 3-5 years? Who is demanding these? |
Winston Smith | 04 Dec 2018 9:48 a.m. PST |
Nobody is demanding them. It's just Hollywood economics. Story is in public demand. Audiences know what to expect. Add explosions. Go for "edgy". Hollywood is depending on people who go to movies out of habit, rather than those expecting quality. |
Roderick Robertson | 04 Dec 2018 9:57 a.m. PST |
"Hollywood" thinks that people will go to a movie with a recognizable name – would you rather see "King Arthur" or "The Adventures of Goremann"? It's all in the branding.

I am with VCarter. This is a total pass. Though I would watch a sequel from that Three Musketeer movie. Would love to see a battle fought by English and French air fleets. |

I'm one of those who go to the movies out of habit. However, I see/saw no reason whatsoever to spend two hours on this pile of bull excrement. Besides I have lots of painting to do (both miniatures and terrain). |

Im with Mithmee on that. This Robin Hood one looks awful, I predicted it would bomb. But I did enjoy the Three Musketeers movie of 2012- it had the balloon gimmick but otherwise followed the storyline of Dumas. And it had great fight scenes and fine cast. |

Yeah, this looks terrible. The extreme over-the-top choreography and martial arts is so out of place in the quasi-historical setting. |

Amusingly at my brother's house last night we watched the first two episodes of a production titled 'Beowulf.' The names of the primary characters were from the legend and the setting was Hollywood Dark age, but the additions to the plot and inclusion of among other things multi-racial/ethnic tribes and characters, shapeshifters, and Game of Thrones style political intrigues makes it anything but a retelling of the original legend. But, as noted, who would watch a movie/series titled 'Misunderstood Mud Beast…' |

My wife wanted to see Robin Hood so we went last night and I tried to enjoy it based on the posted suggestions but it was truly awful. Robin Hood now shoots like he is Legolas plus the political correctness having the "person of color" instructing the clueless white protagonist on how to do everything was just difficult to watch. |
Jakar Nilson | 08 Dec 2018 12:06 a.m. PST |
plus the political correctness having the "person of color" instructing the clueless white protagonist on how to do everything You mean like Morgan Freeman in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves? |
Mithmee | 08 Dec 2018 6:23 p.m. PST |
Morgan Freeman started in the Middle East and then went to England. That is plausible. But Hollywood of today is just forcing Revisionist History. |

But if you really want to enjoy watching Robin Hood… Well watch the 1939 version with Errol Flynn. |

But if you really want to enjoy watching Robin Hood…Well watch the 1939 version with Errol Flynn. My plan exactly. We had our planning meeting with teens at the library to discuss programs for the upcoming months, including our monthly movie. I made a joking suggestion of the Errol Flynn Robin Hood as a contrast to this monstrosity, and was pleasantly surprised that several liked the idea! So it might wind up on our list. |

'Men in Tights' is my favorite RH flick. |
catavar | 14 Dec 2018 5:25 p.m. PST |
I'd like to watch The Adventures Of Robin Hood ('38) followed immediately by Robin And Marian. |
Bowman | 15 Dec 2018 2:50 p.m. PST |
I'm not sure the ‘39 Errol Flynn film is any more "accurate" than the modern version. Especially since we are dealing with a story similar to King Arthur, where myth and reality are tightly intertwined. Still, the older version can be enjoyed sober. |
Gunfreak | 15 Dec 2018 3:14 p.m. PST |
Yeah men in tights is the go to Robin hood movie. About as realistic as all the other ones. |
