Winston Smith30 Oct 2018 2:38 p.m. PST

Was whacked on his first day in a West Virginia Federal prison, even before his paperwork was completed.
He was wheeled out of sight of security cameras by 3 guys with "mob ties" and beaten with "a lock in a sock".
89 years old, but the Mob has a long memory.

I compliance with the TMP obituary policy of de mortuis nil nisi bonum (speaking nothing but good of the dead), I will say one word.
Good.

I think I'll watch The Departed on Netflix tonight.
Or binge watch the first season of Ray Donovan. But that's not getting any painting done.

Yup, he got whacked.

Where he is at right now is quite a bit warmer.

May he not Rest in Peace.

Eighty nine years old, he was going to die there, why bother killing him?

Winston Smith31 Oct 2018 1:28 p.m. PST

Because those who did him in felt he needed to die by the hands of those whose code of honor he violated.

This man had his reasons.

As Hyman Roth said to Michael Corleone, "Michael, this is the life we have chosen."

I guess, revenge is all about the perceived hurt individual and not the perceived perpetrator. But being elderly in a the US prison system had to be it on special kind of hell.

Also, it was believed that he was going to rat-out some high level FBI people for corruption and mob ties. Could be three inmates suddenly get reductions in their sentences.

In the end, a lot of folks felt he needed killin'. When Organized Crime (Or The Man) feels victimized by you, it's hard to get good life insurance.
Also, at the age of 89, he hadn't really "retired", like Owney Madden.

Reminds me of the last words of another gangster,Roger Touhy, not long after he was paroled,he got clipped too,but surviving long enough to say,in short ,that folks like that never forget.
