I saw the Peter Jackson WWI documentary, "They Shall Not Grow Old" last night. He has restored, colourised and added voices to footage of the western front, bringing the soldiers back to life. I found it fascinating.

Very emotional – great work by all involved. Hearing the veterans accounts really brought home how young they were and how much we have to be thankful for.

The Q&A afterwards was very interesting as well – Mr Jackson has restored 100hours of the B&W archive footage for the IWM so hopefully this will be available to see as well

I've been following comments about this film on a different site for movies from the silent period plus those new fangled talkies. There is a very vocal percentage that have lit the torches and sharpened the pitchforks against this work. Personally, I am very interested in seeing it whenever it makes across the pond but there are those who don't like to films changed from there original form – colorization is the "devils work" as one member noted on the thread. I prefer my movies as originally released but old newsreel footage I don't find as any great work of art that couldn't be changed. Anyway, just a few thoughts and hope to be able to see it soon.

Okay if you haven't seen this you are missing out.

Very well done.

Was totally amazed by just how many other individuals decided to see it as well.

Theater was packed.

TSNGO did very well at the box office for a limited Fathom Events release by all accounts, making over $3 USD million in just two days.

The movie is well constructed and edited. Be sure to stick around for the behind-the-scenes commentary narrated by P. Jackson after the end credits. The credit is long and is accompanied by the soundtrack of "Mademoiselle from Armentieres" but it is well worth it.

There's still a chance to see it on the big screen if you missed it. TSNGO will get another limited run on 01/11/2019 in LA, NY and DC, then get a wide release everywhere on 02/01/2019.
