I was confused was it a Jaws and Deep blue see Homage or just a plain rip off. that being said it was just OK. I liked Li Bingbing and the Girl who played the daughter but Jason Statham was just OK, kinda phoned this one in…must be in his contract that he get to stand around almost naked to show of his body that was such a contrived scene. the Meg itself was lame and Everything was predictable but still it was somewhat entertaining But No need to hang around till the end there is nothing after the credits.

Why would anyone make a movie about the least liked Family Guy character?

Sounds like it's what I expected it to be from the trailer – an expensive B-Movie !

I'll probably still go and see it if I have nothing better to do !

I'll wait until it surfaces on Netflix!

I only go to the movies for big visuals.

DOM is a karkophile, so we might go see it in IMax. Are the visuals worth going to see them six stories tall?

I think that the only chance a big shark has to be scary/impressive is on a big screen.

I would think being in the water with one would be scarier?

thumbs up

I know it's rated PG-13, but is there anything that a fun loving 12 and 8 year old would freak out about or shouldn't see?

jdpintex13 Aug 2018 6:55 a.m. PST

Only if they are afraid of sharks.

The movie includes an 8-yr old girl as somewhat comic relief.

Not even that much blood, so I'm not sure why it even got a PG-13 rating.

It's a good mindless summer movie.

Thanks jd…

Well it looks like the movie is going to do well.

So chances are good right now for Meg 2.

Yeah – the reports are along the lines of "surprisingly well".

I just saw it today at the matinee. I was underwhelmed. I was hoping they would have stuck to the book a little more.

According to Wiki, Megalodons grew to about 60 feet. About twice as big as a large Great White. The movie megalodon looks about twice the size of a real one. A bit of Hollywood embellishment?

Any movie with sharks in it, no matter how "bad," will always do well because, well, it's about sharks. The coolest and badassiest predator there is outside of Jurassic Park or World.

The Sigh-fy channel went to town on shark movies. Not only by throwing them into tornados but also genetically mixing/mutating them with anything a 10-year old and his little brother can think of.

I should know. I'm a sucker for shark flicks.

Surely by now someone must have come up with a funny poster of this, using Meg Ryan or some other famous Meg's face.

Dan
PS. Well, this might be for the sequel then:

"Not only by throwing them into tornados but also genetically mixing/mutating them with anything a 10-year old and his little brother can think of."

Yep, that seems to be the writing level on many of these blockbusters.

Its about the right size… about 60-70 feet. The trailer clip where it comes up below the boat is not in the movie.

It was an OK B movie ride.

Karellian Knight21 Aug 2018 4:29 p.m. PST

I've just seen it in 3D, absolutely loved it.

Ahh….not really.

The biggest Megalodon (suggested by its fossil remains) perhaps was around 60 ft long. The biggest great white ever found was about 30 feet. However, on average Megalodons were about 30 feet long and great whites about 20 feet.

Here's a picture of a human standing behind a Megalodon fossil jaw:

Doesn't look like the movie posters. This from the aptly named "Geeks of Doom" website:

The largest Megalodon tooth ever found is just under 8 inches long. Looks like a bit of embellishment to me.
