Entertaining the wife on the phone while she was on a long drive home, I read out the cladogram of aves(birds) to her. There was a few surprises about the evolutionary relationship between some of the bird orders. What was most interesting is that passerine(sparrows, , crows etc) are actually a subsection of Eufalconimorphae(basically true falcon like) so the humble house sparrow is a true falcon(like) I'm sure if we just told them they'd get a real self-esteem boost. |
