"The findings published last week in Nature Geoscience are based on observational evidence from three warm periods over the past 3.5 million years when the world was 0.5°C-2°C warmer than the pre-industrial temperatures of the 19th Century.

The research also revealed how large areas of the polar ice caps could collapse and significant changes to ecosystems could see the Sahara Desert become green and the edges of tropical forests turn into fire dominated savanna. "Observations of past warming periods suggest that a number of amplifying mechanisms, which are poorly represented in climate models, increase long-term warming beyond climate model projections," said lead author, Prof Hubertus Fischer of the University of Bern.

"This suggests the carbon budget to avoid 2°C of global warming may be far smaller than estimated, leaving very little margin for error to meet the Paris targets."…"

Bring it on!

I already have a boat in mind and might even buy some beach chairs.

Armand,

You need to start posting this stuff on the humor board as it is really where it belongs.

Yep. I got 22 inches in my house for a couple of weeks, and it took me 4 months to move back into the house.

But that was rainwater, NOT sea water from rising oceans.

My question is … how many more years before it rises another 100 feet and I can finally sell or use my property as a seaside "resort"? :)

Fox News said climate science is a hoax so this must be more fake news.

Private Matter: "Fox News said climate science is a hoax so this must be more fake news."

When did they say that* exactly? What specific date, show and person? Or is this just more anti-Fox defamation fake news from the other mainstream networks and their favorite politicians (mainly to undermine Fox for other unrelated political reasons)?

And let's compare this claim apples to apples …

Was it on an official FOX News report (expressed by an actual journalist) or was this just something mentioned on a commentary show?

So was that really the official FOX News network position*, or was that simply something that of some random guest voiced on an interview? That can make all the difference right there, considering how many crazy things that guests and "personalities" can say on after-news shows everywhere else, as happens every single day in every network, specially on their commentary shows.

Dan
* Would you consider all the crazy things that political commentator Rachel Maddow says to be the official position of her particular network.

Well I say it is a hoax and individuals are pushing it and other agendas to have control of our lives.

Tango0113 Jul 2018 11:57 a.m. PST

So… this is a completely falsa report?

Dan,

I recently went to a presentation on fish stocks at the local university. It was pointed out that while most stocks were impacted by warming water (as the East Australia Current moves south), cephalopods don't seem to be impacted. So, make sure your boat is fully equipped to repel our new squid masters!

Where does hurricane rainwater come from? Hint, it's not created ex nihilo, but evaporated from warm tropical water (this relationship is quite settled). Warmer tropical water leads to more rainfall…

My comment was a cheap swipe at the type of folks who denies climate science because some commentator like Sean Hannity says it's fake. (And Hannity did say it was fake). it was not a well thought out comment on my part so I will apologize if it offended any Fox News viewers.

I get a bit jaundiced by some folks on this site who immediately will jump to ridicule opposing view points and today I was guilty of doing it myself.

Going to go out on a limb here and say
