"It's the ultimate insult. You've spent years studying, memorizing, and taking tests to prove that you understand some of the world's most fundamental workings. You missed television shows, nights out with your friends, and binge-gaming sessions. You know what? A lot of that stuff you were studying was just wrong. Let's get it right…."

I can't wait for someone on the Internet to tell me my education was "wrong." Obviously, their Internet status makes them an expert. Pffft. No, not clicking on this bait.

That's a stupid list.

goragrad19 Jun 2018 12:16 p.m. PST

Some valid points made there.

And some that are just a bit of nit-picking.

Mithmee19 Jun 2018 12:19 p.m. PST

I am with you Gunfreak, that is one very stupid list.

Personally, only the tongue thing about regions specializing in certain tastes was taught to me. And that was based on the current information. So it's hardly "lies". Don't lies imply willfully teaching falsehoods to people? Nice Straw man argument.

Goragrad is correct that some are just semantic nit picking. The evolution and warm blooded examples shows this.

Gunfreak and Mithmee are correct that the list is dumb. For example "Dinosaurs are cold blooded reptiles". First, I'm old enough to remember the first time "mesothermic" dinosaurs were suggested. Since then more and more fossils have been found to corroborate the existence of non cold blooded animals. This isn't "Lying". This is how science works. I can remember some famous paleontologist (perhaps Horner, I forgot) responding to the question of dinosaurs being cold or warm blooded. He said something like, " some Dinosaure were cold blooded, some were warm blooded, some were in between, and some may have had thermoregulation that we have no idea about." (I'm paraphrasing)

Also no one taught me dinosaurs were reptiles. That's wrong. "Dinosaur" means terrible lizard. They are not lizards either. Another straw man.

I don't read any list-structured article that requires clicking to a new page for each item on the list. That lets them load lots and lots of ads and record lots of unique page visits, but stops my from quickly scanning to see if I care about anything in the article. So I can't even comment on whether or not it's a stupid list, I trust that it is, I just won't click on click bait. It never pays off.

……I just won't click on click bait. It never pays off.

Lol! I agree!

Except I always remember that after the fact. wink
