In Edinburgh recently, my cousin dragged me to a Mexican food restaurant.

It wasn't the stodgy boring & predictable food I was used to like hardshell tacos, burritos, and nachos which are, evidently, meat heavy Tex-Mex inventions. This food was a taste sensation.

We had a series of 3 tacos: none of the hard tacos I was used to, filled with some heavy meat & re-fried bean filling but small and soft tacos either lightly grilled or streamed. They came with a variety of meat, including pulled pork, chicken, or seafood. Added were rice, beans, white cheese, or chiles.

They came with side dishes of vegetables like avocados, home-made green tomato salsa, and chopped onions and garnished with fresh lime juice and cilantro. Unbelievably delicious.

I also sampled chilaquiles (sp?). They were made with quartered corn tortillas that are lightly fried and simmered with salsa (green, red or mole), and then topped with eggs (scrambled or fried) and sometimes pulled chicken.

There were plenty of vegetarian & vegan options available as well.

Not a hard taco or cheesey nacho abomination anywhere.

If such a restaurant existed at home, I would visit it regularly as opposed to the awful chains which are, in hindsight, as disgusting as the burger chains which unaccountably flourish.

Hi,
I sometimes eat out in Edinburgh. What was the name of the restaurant? It sounds interesting and I'd like to try it.
