Someone should insert a "that's what they want you to think" comment here.

And frankly, if humanity, with it's history and inclinations, were the build an astronomical megastructure, don't you think that at some point during the planning meetings someone would stand up and say, "hey, you know what, just for security, let's make sure this thing can't be spotted from fifty list years away, just saying." I would expect alien megastructures to be stealthy. So if you spot something, it's probably not a megastructure.
