Saw it today and liked it quite a lot. Gary Oldman was great as Churchill and there was a good supporting cast. Recommended.

I saw the preview when I went to see Dunkirk. It was the movie I was hoping to see.

On the list to see in 2018!

Wait. I saw it a couple of years ago. It had Russians and American tourists fighting aliens in Moscow.

It had Olivia Thirlby!

I remember 'The Darkest Hour.' Horrible "neither interesting nor scary" kitsch.

'Darkest Hour' however is a pretty good Winston Churchill biopic:

Yes, but it had Olivia Thirlby, and Rachael Taylor … and Veronika Vernadskaya!

And a crazy cat in a Faraday "suit"!!!

It looks like a movie that I'd definitely like to go see.

I know who actor Gary Oldman is, but I'll admit I haven't really kept up with his career and roles, except for 'The Fifth Element', 'Lost in Space', and 'The Dark Knight' series. He appears to be an extremely prolific and talented actor, and he's still relatively young enough (at 59) to appear in many more films in the future.

I wish him well in the upcoming Oscar nominations.

Just saw it yesterday and was very pleased with it. After about five minutes I wasn't watching Gary Oldman playing Winston Churchill but felt I was watching Churchill himself. There were a number of "chuckles" places in it for the historian. I highly recommend it!

Saw it last night. Unbelievable portrayal of Churchill. Hand Oldman the Academy Award now.

It's a very good film – but considering the level of make-up required it's amazing to think that the Churchill being portrayed was 66, and Oldman is 59.

At times I thought Oldman was channeling Mr. Grainger from Are You Being Served?

I don't know much about Churchill evidently, but I always assumed he was more confidant and composed than portrayed here. Maybe his public persona was more controlled than his private one where he's at times impish and playful.

I did like the film, but found him slightly less imposing than when I had gone in.

I'm about 80% of the way through William Manchester's massive (and great) three-volume biography of Churchill. In private he was subject to bouts of deep depression and was capable of angry rants over just about anything. He treated his servants and staff like dirt, but somehow still won their absolute loyalty. His public face was always one of confidence and enthusiasm.

Glad to see Oldman won the Oscar for his performance.
