cash to the doorstep

That's an awful lot of small, unmarked bills.

This is an interesting, possibly sophisticated scam.

Someone recently made the observation that with email scams you don't want to be too subtle. You're sending out a lot of emails, you only want the truly clueless to respond or you have to deal with too many bad leads – people who will figure out it's bogus after the second or third email. You want to weed out people who are incredulous before you spend any effort on them. This is why they always mention Nigeria.

But you don't need to accomplish everything in the first email. You just want greedy, uninformed people to respond. So how are people going to respond to this, and it's right there – if you didn't have an accident and *don't* want this guy you never heard of to get *your* money. "Cash to your doorstep" makes it sound like they're not asking you for anything, but in the second email…

Remember Jim Garner's character in Support Your Local Gunfighter? If he had any money on his person, and he entered a room with a roulette table, he'd plunk down all of it on (I don't remember the number, same number each time).

There are apparently some helpless individuals who cannot resist following through when given the chance.

$10.5 USD million "in cash" would bury the doorstep and everyone standing on it.
