John Mollo has died, sadly. Won two academy awards for costume design (Star Wars and Ghandi), but I didn't even know that until I read reports today. To me he was the writer of two of my favourite books; Uniforms of The American Revolution in Color, and Uniforms of the Seven Year's War, both of which I still look to for inspiration. |

The GREAT John Mollo. As a boy and younger man, his books were the very first publications that influenced my lifelong interest in military history and, eventually, wargaming. His bibliography is extensive, but I can also cite Uniforms of the American Revolution as an early inspiration, as well as his work in 'Star Wars'. Mr. Mollo was a definite trailblazer for our hobby. Godspeed, Mr. Mollo, and thank you VERY, very much. |

RIP. I was just using his book again last week. I didn't know about the film industry career. |

To paraphrase a movie line "our ranks grow thin". He will be missed. Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine, et lux perpetua luceat eis, te decet hymnus, Deus in Sion, et tibi reddetur votum in Jerusalem; exaudi orationem meam, ad te omnis caro veniet. |
