Hope that doesn't catch on here, I want my burgers @ McD. If I want those type of things I can go elsewhere.

I was in a McDonald's in Rome that had a separate McCafe section within the restaurant. It had some really good offerings. This standalone is interesting. Whatever it takes to make a buck, pound, euro. If it works, great. If not, they'll get rid of it. I love this aspect of the free market.

McD's burgers I can gladly do without. Fries, nuggets and filet o' fish though, that is what I call haute cuisine.

You do realize that chicken nuggets are made from the posterior meat of chickens(ie. chicken butt).

When McDonalds first appeared in Europe it felt like participating in a small piece of exotic Americana, although some countries had their own domestic fast food chains.

McDonalds was very good at adapting its menu to more local tastes in countries like France and has very cleverly continued to seduce the French public, despite it being a major source of attacks of apoplexy among the crusaders trying to promote "Les produits bien de chez nous"

The two top McD restaurants are those of Paris, Champs-Elysees and Disneyland Paris. With specialized menu items and riding on the latent anglophilia of the French they have been able to keep their public riveted, but in recent years new initiatives has started to eat away at McD's position and therefore they are branching out for an even broader appeal.

I have eat MacD all over many countries… only three times I had bad experiencies…

One was in Mexico DF… I ended sick…

Two was at Madrid… same result….

Three was in France… horrible hamburger taste… but… the rest of their food was ok…. there I lern that you have to prove the "local" offerd…

I don't think this is meant to replace McDonald's but to try to get a piece of the booming coffee business.
