I recently picked up the digital version on Tank on Tank Westfront. link It has spurred an interest in board wargames; I'd like to pick up some more for quick and easy gaming. Here are some of my preferences:

1. Quick set up
2. Short playing time (30 – 60 minutes tops)
3. Solo or solo-able
4. Digital version is a plus

Any recommendations?

I've enjoyed the old Milton Bradley games, quick, easy & fun.

Memoir '44
Battle Cry
Ogre
Star Trek Panic (reduce playing time by reducing number of missions)
Dungeon Saga
Wings of War/Glory
Space Hulk

STP has solo rules, DS has solo rules in an expansion rulebook. The others are either card driven and thus easy to solo, or have fairly basic decision trees (see enemy, attack enemy) and thus aren't hard to "automate," as it were.

I don't know if any have digital versions.

Do you mean wargames or non-wargames?

If you mean non-wargames the classic suggestions are going to be Settlers of Catan, Carcassonne, Ticket to Ride, and their families. I would add Cinque Terre, Lost Cities (the boardgame), Fresco, Frag.

That's assuming you want a *board game*, not a card game, and leaving out two player games and cooperative games.

If you want a war game, yup, Ogre. Also, original Squad Leader is vastly under appreciated; if you stick to the basic rules it plays quickly. Here's a tip: ignore all that stuff about Portage Points. Manoeuvre from GMT is supposed to be good but I have not tried it.

Definitely look at boardgamegeek.com.

I've enjoyed Storm Over Dien Bien Phu. For me it's been an easy game to set up and play fast (usually with different results).

Thanks for the recommendations. I have some of them already. I'm considering Ogre and have ordered Manoeuvre.
