I recall him losing an unhealthy amount of weight for The Machinist

And then there was Tom Hanks who ate a gallon of ice cream a day for huis chubby part in The Castaway, and before that packed on pounds for A League of Their Own. Then lost a ton of weight for the stranded portion.

He paid a price, though – diabetes.

Then there is Tom Hardy. Packed on 30 lbs of muscle in three months for Bronson

Mark Walberg dropped 60lbs for The Gambler (they said the diet made his lips blue on set.)

Now Chris Helmsworth also for In the Heart of the Sea…

I can understand bulking up, BUT losing so much weight so fast, that is some serious dedication and discipline as well as commitment to their craft…

If people who go from one diet to another to another eventually develop problems in the kidneys, gall bladder, liver, etc., I can't even imagine what rapid weigh loss or weight gain could do.

There's a good reason for why all reputable weigh loss doctors say that weight loss has to take place in very small increments.

I just don't think it's worth damaging the only body you have.
