Country music icon Glen Campbell has died at the age of 81, Fox News has learned.

His family announced, "It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and legendary singer and guitarist, Glen Travis Campbell, at the age of 81, following his long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease."

One of the most surreal moments of my life was walking around Portmerrion (of Prisoner fame), when Glenn started booming from the tannoy system with Wichita Line Man. A great performer

He played the bagpipes! Check out YouTube or other resources to see/hear his rendition of Amazing Grace on the pipes, in his own idiosyncratic style. The fingering is decidedly unorthodox, but it works, just the same. And his pipe is in tune, which is more than some can say.

Played as a Beach Boy on several of their tours. Was also a very much in demand session musician for just about everyone.

"Wichita Lineman" was my favorite Campbell song.
