I remember my father telling me that after the Japanese surrendered in 1945 his unit was sent home by ship from the South Pacific. The voyage took thirty days which gave them time to process what had happened during the war and "wind down" before getting home.

The idea that a person can be walking the streets of Iraq searching for IEDs on Monday then mowing his yard in suburbia on Saturday is the very definition of madness.
