link Ridiculous. So obviously driven by current PC issues of "equality". If the Doctor hadn't tried out gender transference by "now", he never was going to, for whatever personal reasons. Ludicrous reasons for being a woman "now" will not fly…………… |

This is indeed a subject to be taken seriously. Not. |

To fans it matters. Rather more wrenching than saying that Batman is gay. |

I think it's fine. The appearance of Missy over the last couple of seasons more than laid the groundwork for a male to female regeneration. Now that it has finally happened I find myself completely fine with it. They said William Hartnell was irreplaceable – that the audience would never accept Patrick Troughten as the Doctor. And they were wrong. As long as she hands out jelly babies, and keeps the sonic screwdriver at the Capaldi level of power then I'm fine with all this. David Tennant's seemed to be the equivalent of a WMD – I didn't like that so much. |

Matt Smith ruined it for me….. |

So what, whats the big deal The Doctor seems to be able to be anything why not a woman. But I am sure that he is going to be in his/hers room for a while figuring how things work :) after all he had trouble with getting use to new teeth this should really throw the Doctor for a loop |

Matt Smith was the best doctor. I hope Jodie Whittaker will be better than Capaldi, who seemed like an angry confused man most of the time. I also hope the writing will be better, many of Capaldis episodes were also confused. |

Two seasons ago they were ready to lynch Capaldi, but when he did get good material he ruled. It all depends on the writing. |

Wouldn't Joanna Lumley have been a super Doctor ? And wouldn't Jonathan Pryce have been a super Master ? Ah…what might have been. |

Joanna Lumley would have been a great doctor. I really liked Matt Smith, I think he was the best one in the role so far. I didn't watch more than half an episode with the guy after him. I don't really see the big deal, so the doctor is a woman. Certainly that was always possible. |

I didn't rate Matt Smith at the time, having suffered through his replacement I've changed my view……I'd still say that Smith was lucky in the companions since at times they carried the show. As for the whole Doctor Who becoming a woman, its surprising that its taken this long, if any sci-fi character lends itself to being played by different sexes, races etc, you would think an alien who changes his very being into a new person with every regeneration would be the perfect. |

Also, this leads credence the the fan theory that Miss Frizzle from Magic School Bus is The Doctor and that the Bus is a new mark of Tardis ;-) |
