Thank you gods of the cinema – I have finally seen Trumbo. And it was worth the wait.

I go to the cinema once or twice a week most weeks – this is the best new film I've seen in probably two years.

How good ?

Well, I realised at the end I hadn't looked at my watch once. That's quite rare.

Superb acting. Superb script. Wonderfully shot. What more could anyone ask?

I agree, great movie. How great? Trumbo seemed like a bit of a douche, but I liked him and cared what happened to the character anyway. Excellent film>

I'd recommend searching it out – it's a superb and entertaining drama.

Bryan Cranston is beyond good in the title role. I guess that's why he was nominated for the Oscar.

It sounds like a retelling of the blacklist "era", already handily covered in The Front. I don't care how good the acting is, I'm not interested in the story enough to watch another movie about it. I guess somebody didn't like treating this as comedy?

I guess somebody didn't like treating this as comedy?

That would be Hail Caesar! with George Clooney et al.

It's more than 40 years since The Front, so probably ok to go and revisit that sad era in the history of Hollywood/USA.
