link In 1978, mathematician Kurt Gödel died and left behind a long and complex theory based on modal logic.Dr Gödel's model uses mathematical equations that are extremely complicated, but the essence is that no greater power than God can be conceived, and if he or she is believed as a concept then he or she can exist in reality.
This is in essence the Ontological Proof for God's Existence. I thought it sucked all the air out of the room when I "studied" it back in 1972, but apparently eminent mathematicians thought there was still some life in that dead horse yet! The only difference is that St Anselm proved that God MUST exist. Not merely "can". Perhaps that will show up in later equations. |

Old news, HGTV covered this in the Flip or Flop episode: "Ontology vs. Epistemology, which has greater after market value" |

Wow, the Sunday Express has plagerized a 4 year old Speigel Online article. When Gödel died in 1978, he left behind a tantalizing theory based on principles of modal logic -- that a higher being must exist. The details of the mathematics involved in Gödel's ontological proof are complicated, but in essence the Austrian was arguing that, by definition, God is that for which no greater can be conceived. And while God exists in the understanding of the concept, we could conceive of him as greater if he existed in reality. Therefore, he must exist. link At least I learned from the Sunday Express that the man with the longest penis is considered disabled and that Paris Jackson has pierced nipples as she "channels Madonna". Seriously, is this the science board? |

There is much that appears on the "Science" board about which reasonable people can differ. If we had a Math board… |

If we had a Math board….then we the Mathematically illiterate could turn it off… |

We are in a post-everything world, including science. I believe that there have calls to repeal several laws of nature in various countries on the grounds that they are unconstitutional. |

If we had a Math Board we would get complaints we left off the "s" |
