As a child, I simply loved all things Space Program. My heroes are slowly moving on. RIP Mr. Cernan |

When will someone follow in his footsteps? I doubt in my life time. God Speed. |

The last of a breed … I certainly hope we go back to the moon. RIP Gene Cernan. You and the rest of the Apollo crew certainly gave all of us a sense of adventure and exploration. |

"We leave as we came and, God willing, as we shall return with peace and hope for all mankind." - Gene Cernan, Commander Apollo 17. The last man – so far – to walk on the moon. I too was enthralled by the achievements of both the USA and USSR in space. The International Space Station is a great thing, we need to remember that, but it isn't the permanent moon base I dreamt of possibly visiting. |

Was really enthralled by the space program back in my youth. Remember being allowed to stay up late to watch moon landings and walks. Collected a bunch of period memorabilia and still have some of it packed away somewhere. Just to clarify what I'm reading in some of the posts. He was the last man to walk on the moon. I believe that about half of his fellow moonwalkers are still alive. But age is catching up with them all. RIP |

He was the last man to walk on the moon. I believe that about half of his fellow moonwalkers are still alive. But age is catching up with them all. Apollo 17 was the last mission and he was the last man to walk on the moon. A fascinating man. RIP! |

Rats. I heard the news on the way ho,end couldn't help but think, "Why couldn't it have been the 'Inventor of the Internet' and why couldn't he have slipped on some 'Anthroogenic Global Warming' instead?" Godspeed and Fair Winds Star Sailor Eugene Cernan. May we be back soon to the moon and may we be worthy. |
