If you go 125 years without a World Series, you get relegated to the minor leagues right? Well, the Chi Cubs don't have to worry about that for our lifetimes ;-)

Congrats to the Chicago Cubs for winning the World Series (Never thought I'd write that)

Best Game 7 ever.

Yeah, that was a good game… but a bit sloppy on the defense. Give me a 0-0 pitcher's duel any day.

OldGrenadier at work03 Nov 2016 4:14 a.m. PST

Congratulations to both teams for getting that far.

What are you talking about? They each scored only 1 touchdown. evil grin

Congratulations to the Cubs! Very well deserved win!

Question, Was this named after 'The World' newspaper or some such, or do you Yanks hold to the view you are where it begins and ends?

Answerhttp://www.theoleballgame.com/why-do-we-call-the-final-baseball-series-the-world-series.html is actually quite interesting.

As Karate Clifford once said, "it's just a name". FWIW the winner is usually referred to as the "World Series Champion", not "World Champion" or "Champion of the World", which is a small but significant difference.

And I'm Canadian, and I'm cool with it being what it is.

It WAS international in '92 and '93, and should have been in 94 #NeverForgetTheExpos

Two things

Martin as a Canadian you should know better . There is no relegation in Major League Baseball once a franchise is given it is only for Major League Baseball. Although this does not stop carpetbagger owners from transferring "franchises" to other cities You are correct in stating that Montreal was robbed.

Second why was the best game of the year being played at 1AM Eastern Time when most kids and a lot of other fans did not get a chance to watch it.

I did not have a dog in this hunt. That said, the only way this could have been a better scripted game is if the home team came back for the win. Congrats to the Cubs, anyway.

The avoiding relegation was said with tongue firmly in cheek. I should have been clearer.

Easy, so that the network gets that sweet sweet West Coast advertising money.

I should have been clearer.

No you shouldn't. I got the joke and thought it was pretty funny. grin

Sorry Martin I was trying to make a point about how the Expos were stolen by the owners.

The two best words in sport: Game Seven! And it was a darn good game seven and series (and I don't even care for either team).

Congrats to the Chicago Cubs for winning the World Series (Never thought I'd write that)

So true! Last time the Cubs held the trophy, Taft was campaigning against Bryan!

I agree. Just do a deadpan Foghorn Leghorn "It's a joke, Son."

It was a vicious campaign too! Ryan called Taft a "scalawag" and Taft called Ryan "Rascal Ryan." Oh the amount of muck raking! Never before or again have we seen such uncivil behavior in politics! Ruffians both! evil grin

Winston Smith04 Nov 2016 7:39 a.m. PST

Thank goodness we've gotten over that behavior.

Who asked this joker04 Nov 2016 8:43 a.m. PST

Doh. Bryan. Not Ryan. No lie. I saw R not B. I think I need to wear my readers more.

Let's just hope this finally puts an end to all of the talk of 1908, the goat, the black cat & Bartman!
