Saw this today, Was not all that bad once you get over the political correctness in the casting. I have no problems with Black cowboys Asians, Mexican, Native Americans They were all prominent in the west I just hate it when Hollywood puts them all together for PC reasons, it's just to forced. Other than that the story was Ok the acting was good ( I really Like Denzel Washington) Chris Pratt was a bit to comical, Peter Sarsgaard was kind of a cookie-cutter Villian and really stupid. The rest of the cast was just there. I hated the portrayal of the Native American (not the actor) but really stereo typical And his war paint looks like it took along time in a makeup chair. ( I did not know there were professional makeup artist in the old west) All that being said It was still watchable and I was not disappointed with the show but if your expecting Chris and the Gang from the original (which is still great you care much more for the characters in that one) you will be disappointed. |

I'll wait for the revisionist PC remake in 10 years time if I'm around, hah! please I've not even seen Fury never mind Pearl Harbour and I guess I just did not miss them or the latest Star Wars either. Heck I feel pretty happy about that, I'm not feelin the Horrywood thank goodness. |

Watched the original (not the Seven Samurai, the Mag Seven) on TCM t' other night. It is a good film to rewatch every so often. Eli Wallach made a great villain… |

Well, saw it tonight – it's a bit of a blend of the original and "Once upon a time in the west" I'd give it a 7/10. Pretty good. |

Enjoyable flick. I need to watch it again…there were a number of things where I think there was something hinted at but the explanation/development ended up on the cutting room floor. Agree the villain was a one dimensional caricature. A few nods to the original were incorporated, which was nice. Have other comments but they'd be spoilers. I hope it does well and encourage other good westerns to be made. Two recent ones, Diablo with Clint's son in the lead had a lot of promise but was badly handled. Jane got a gun was better, but I think it went straight to video. I'd recommend Jane as a Netflix / Red box but not one I'll buy. I'd recommend passing on Diablo. |

there were a number of things where I think there was something hinted at but the explanation/development ended up on the cutting room floor Definitely the case – there were a few occassions when I felt I'd missed the start – or the middle – of a conversation. And not all of the seven seemed to have their character development pulled through properly. But at 2hr 13min I guess something had to give ! |

I thought it was fun! Granted, there was a little too much about the casting that was formulaic -- the Asian guy who is a quasi-ninja, the scripture-quoting trapper, the ex-Confederate sharpshooter who struggles with PTSD… Overall, though, a decent film. |

[SPOILER ALERT!!!] Defying movie tradition the black guy, the Indian and the Mexican aren't the first ones to die. In fact, they don't die at all. But the whites and the Asian did. A coincidence, or did the director and writers just pull a "Kaepernick"? My uncontroversial review can be found here: link |

Eli Wallach made a great villain… A Jewish guy from Red Hook became my favorite Mexican bad guy. Even better is his role in The Good, Bad and the Ugly. |

I'm torn, it does look cool and fun. Yet I'm morally and religiously against remakes. |
