at its awesomenessability!

I think DC have finally started to get it right movie-wise – Last three batman films, batman v superman, suicide squad – all really good.

Yeah, it has the "flaw" that the bad guys have to be heroes…but that's kind of the point….

You have said why YOU would want to watch it. Now, tell me why *I* would want to. grin

Well, it starts off with a great series of short back stories to set the scene, with a wonderful soundtrack (The Animals performing House of the Rising Sun never gets old!).

Wil Smith is rather superb as Deadshot. His tussle with another famous resident of Gotham is well handled.

Harley Quinn – I though she'd been over-hyped and was worried she'd be a drag on the film – nope, lights up every scene.

There are some great plot twists I didn't see coming.

Amanda Waller is a bad-ass.

I always really liked the Kirby style alien entities – in both his work for DC and Marvel – and there are two brilliantly realised ones in this film.

Some nice cameos setting up future films in the series.

I don't think anyone will "out-do" Heath Ledger as the Joker, he really captured the nihilistic side of the character, but there's a pretty good attempt here.

It was well paced, the action scenes were excellent – could actually see what was going on rather than the too-often these days super fast cuts that mean every fight scene is just a 5 minute blur. It didn't seem too long, it didn't feel like important scenes had been cut, it had a story that hung together pretty well – for a comic book.

It is a dark(er) film than most superhero movies – which is an attempt to be true to the source material.

Anyone who has a slight interest in the world of Batman, comics in general, and / or SF/F movies would most likely be more gruntled than disgruntled with this film.

I like being gruntled…

Thanks. You convinced me it's not for me.

I thought it was pretty good. Could have used an extra 10-15 minutes, due to heavy handed editing, but for what it was, it was fine.

I'll see it on dvd. Ticket prices for the family is just too steep and I can buy the blue ray disc for less.

45th, in L.A. you could buy the Blue Ray, a box of microwave popcorn, a 6 pack of beer, a 12 pack of Coke, and pizza for 4, for less than the price of 4 tickets alone…

The Dark Knight trilogy was the best superhero franchise ever made. Batman vs. Superman? Not so much.

I'm going to see this in the theater with my 16-year-old. It looks pretty fun. Mind you, I loved Deadpool…

I didn't like the Joker parts at all, thought they ruined the film for me, and frankly weren't needed. Probably the worst portrayal of the Joker to date. Rest of it was OK Will Smith (who I'm not a fan of to be honest)was actually rather good as Deadshot, Harley was the best thing in the film, the rest of the cast were pretty good too. Music was OK but I just thought they were trying to cash in on the "Watchmen" vibe with the choices in a heavy handed way.

Overall not bad but Marvel just seems to do it better.

Cheers Roger.

I felt like it was good, but could have been better. It felt caught between serious and frivolous and I kept wanting it to pick one. You can successfully mix the two with some deep meaning and amusing quips, but I felt like Suicide Squad was too fragmented by scenes that were done with a specific tone.

Some scenes felt like they were screaming "look we're funny like Deadpool" while others were violin playing string tuggers meant to make us feel sorry for the poor villains.

I feel like an even better movie got lost in there somewhere.

chuck05 Fezian31 Aug 2016 8:09 p.m. PST

I agree with Dan. Its was good movie that could have been great.

kallman01 Sep 2016 12:41 p.m. PST

Yep I will second Dan's comments but paraphrase to say it was an okay movie that could have been great. As I watched I kept thinking if only they had let Joss Wedon direct this.
