Well, it starts off with a great series of short back stories to set the scene, with a wonderful soundtrack (The Animals performing House of the Rising Sun never gets old!).
Wil Smith is rather superb as Deadshot. His tussle with another famous resident of Gotham is well handled.
Harley Quinn – I though she'd been over-hyped and was worried she'd be a drag on the film – nope, lights up every scene.
There are some great plot twists I didn't see coming.
Amanda Waller is a bad-ass.
I always really liked the Kirby style alien entities – in both his work for DC and Marvel – and there are two brilliantly realised ones in this film.
Some nice cameos setting up future films in the series.
I don't think anyone will "out-do" Heath Ledger as the Joker, he really captured the nihilistic side of the character, but there's a pretty good attempt here.
It was well paced, the action scenes were excellent – could actually see what was going on rather than the too-often these days super fast cuts that mean every fight scene is just a 5 minute blur. It didn't seem too long, it didn't feel like important scenes had been cut, it had a story that hung together pretty well – for a comic book.
It is a dark(er) film than most superhero movies – which is an attempt to be true to the source material.
Anyone who has a slight interest in the world of Batman, comics in general, and / or SF/F movies would most likely be more gruntled than disgruntled with this film.
