Copies of MAD were well circulated at school. We often gathered in small bunches around a copy and read aloud, laughed and commented.

Sure, it was dumb, and that was the whole point.
A lot of MAD was goofy, but there was also a hell of a lot of sharp satire, too.

Rest easy,chief. Thanks for all the laughs. One of his first movie parodies he did for Mad was "Hah!Noon" His other stuff was funny too,"Unsolved Miseries","The Bad Mouth Bears","Q.T.-The Quasi Terrestrial" ,"Groan With The Wind",and so many other articles.

Not many remaining of the original "usual gang…",Al Jaffe's still with us,as are Paul Coker,Nick Meglin,writer Dick De Bartolo, artists Mort Drucker,Sam Viviano,Duck Edwing,Tom Bunk,and others.
