I happened to be channel surfing for a few moments and I saw that TCM was showing one of my favorites, "Tora! Tora! Tora!" so I paused to watch for a few minutes. But I was surprised to see two short scenes which I was sure I had never seen before! In one, Admiral Yamamoto goes to the palace for an interview with the Emperor. There is a nifty changing of the guard outside the palace and a short conversation between Yamamoto and a minister before he sees the Emperor. A little later there is a rather pointless scene in the galley of the flagship where one cook tries to explain the concept of the International Date Line to another cook. I did a Google search and sure enough, these two scenes were in the Japanese version, but not the American version. Considering that I only watched about 10 minutes of the movie it's also slightly amazing I happened to catch both scenes in that tiny sliver. :) |

Great movie saw it again the other day, the local Payforview put it up as Toral Toral Toral because they employ yokels who don't know the difference between a L and an exclamation ! And darn them Japs attacking ol Pearl on Japanese time instead of US, that would have made a major difference on a Sunday. |
