'Seagull's 'swooping attack' in Maryport delays mail delivery'

Obviously, this would not have been a problem for the US Mail.

Wait a minute… seems it isn't it's motto, that's a myth, and ' Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.' doesn't mention seagulls so perhaps it would have been a problem for the US mail. Although swifts are birds and they're mentioned:)

Your interpretation may be correct – although mine own
would be that the US Postal Service uses Swifts to
deliver certain forms of airmail…
