Mr Thatcher passed away last week, leaving only one Doolittle raider left.

I first met Mr Thatcher when I was in 6th grade – he spent the better part of a day telling our small class about the raid and the travails that came after. In those days with the Vietnam war still fresh it was unusual to here such matter of fact, not over the top but not ashamed discussion in public and I have been an admirer of Mr Thatcher ever since.

Being a small town I encountered him a few times after, he was always a remarkable man.

I'm glad theyt made the decision to have the l;ast four drink to theemories of all their buddies. Soon they will all be together again, flying top cover for those still here. MAy God Bless him, all his comrades, and may we be worthy of their efforts and sacrifices.
