The "freeze chopped up herbs in ice cube tray" is a great suggestion. Recommend you use a standard measure when doing so in order to know what you are adding to the recipe. We typically use 1 Tbsp. Once frozen, remove from tray and store in ziplock freezer bag. Otherwise "freezer burn" may occur, the ice will eventually diminish and the herbs will dry out. This does permanently stain your ice cube tray – no biggie, and harmless, but it will look "dirty" after doing this. No need to have dedicated trays for each herb. |

Yes, super markets should be required to donate items to food banks, instead of just trashing the stuff, especially like day old bread, and other, relatively stable items that don't need refrigeration. |
