Ramsay Bolton and The High Sparrow.

Ramsay is a predictable one trick pony and he is getting to be a little bit boring. Time for him to go.

I can't believe that the High Sparrow's minions can keep kidnapping royals and getting away with it. Why don't the Lanisters just send in the King's Guard and storm the temple and get rid of two birds with one stone.

The events at Meereen are also getting tedious. It's time to pack up and leave Essos and cross the ocean to Westeros. Three good dragons are a terrible thing to waste.

Yeah. Both have worn out their welcomes.

My easily disproven theory is that Cersei wants the High Sparrow taken out, but with the Tyrells taking all the blame.
And if Loras and Margaery get killed during their liberating, well that's just too bad.

You might not have to wait long for the High Sparrow to get his comeuppance

Agreed with the OP.

The High Sparrow is obviously based on Girolamo Savonarola from the Falò delle vanità (Bonfire of the Vanities) and needs to share his fate.

Ramsey is one of the few characters without a redeeming characteristic. I too want him gone, but something poetic, like having Yara/Asha get her hands on him would be ideal.

No, I believe her plan all along is that Margaery gets killed in the liberation.

It needs more time to set up the return of Daenerys Targaryen and the pieces are starting to fall into place. It's also needed to show that to reign, she'll need pragmatic help.

Ramsey now only exists as a device to off unwanted characters.

Sad to say I think he's going to be around till some slugfest with the Jon Snow/Sansa faction in the season closer, or rather knowing GoT, the episode before!

I am definitely rooting for a grisly end to both Ramsey and the High Sparrow. I really don't get the plot line with the high sparrow. He is too willing to take on military power without troops.
Ramsey is the kind of usurper that cannot command the loyalty of his vassals. By rights, it will come to a battle and he will be abandoned by his subordinates

One dementinoal phycopats(like Ramsey) Are very boring.

I also found it totaly idiotic his father actualy thought he could control, him. His father was not shown to de a dumb man. In real life he woul have killed him off years ago. heir or no heri. You can't have a freaking rabid dog running around your keep.

The High Sparrow is the most dangerous type of fanatic: he actually believes the things he preaches. He truly believes he's doing the will of the gods and he has no ulterior selfish motives. So he believes that whatever happens it's the will of the gods and if he and his followers are wiped out by armed men then its all part of some plan.

Roose Bolton's blind trust of Ramsey is a bit hard to understand.

To some extent I agree with DAF. But I must say it was refreshing to see Ramsey get on with it and kill his father. He had to wait until it was official: he was named heir, he had his castle, he was married, defeated an army in the field. When he saw the new threat, he acted. Until this, his murdering, torturing, and raping were mostly just for the fun of it. Now, it was a personal and political move. Still would like to see him offed. Remember, though, this is George R.R. Martin. His ending might include the Boltons as Wardens of the North with wise and just rulers 200 years after the events of GoT…

I'm thinking the problem with the High Sparrow is that he has the genuine support of the masses. The Royals in King's Landing have been left with a gutted military after the war of the three kings. They were already fearing a popular uprising in the middle of that conflict. (remember the riot where the hound saved Sansa?) I can't imagine things are any better now with the 3rd king in about as many years, a dishonored queen, and the smallest standing army in recent history. With powers rising in the North and the Riverlands again, they can't spend the troops to ut down a popular uprising that a war against the faithful would entail.

Agreed

But with the leaders of the Lannisters, the Tyrells and the King's Guard all having strong personal reasons to wipe out the sparrows, I don't think questions of grand strategy are going to stop them. And the previews for the next episode sure make it look the streets are going to run red with blood.

altfritz27 May 2016 6:35 p.m. PST

I thought there was a preview that gave a glimpse of Ramsay's fate.

Trajanus28 May 2016 1:51 a.m. PST

Can the storyline sustain two insurgencies is the question?

Unless the Lannisters can take out all the Sparrows in one hit, there needs to be a chance of an underground resistance and the goons over in Meereen haven't gone away yet either.

If The Mother of Dothraki comes home to sort out the Slavers I can't see the current deal on their behaviour holding.
