Sir George Martin was a true musical craftsman, and his association with The Beatles helped to create some of the most memorable, multi-dimensional, and iconic music from the 20th Century. I'm sure it can be successfully claimed that Sir George's classical influence upon pop music gave birth to such acts as The Moody Blues, Yes, the Electric Light Orchestra, and many others.

And not only was he an extraordinary music producer, but he was also a veteran of WWII, joining the Fleet Air Arm of the Royal Navy as an aerial observer in 1943 and serving until 1947. He led a truly remarkable life.

Godspeed, Sir George, and thank you VERY, very much for sharing your talent with the world and for your service in WWII. I salute you, sir.
