I absolutely believe in forgiving people, for the good of the forgiver, not the forgiven. But *asking* for forgiveness from someone you tried to kill seems beyond comprehension. It's sort of "since you're not dead, let's leave this behind us," or "I did't want do deal with you, but since I have to let's do it on good terms," or "I was as unmerciful to you as possible, but you should be merciful to me." |
