link DAK is back with modern TO&E? |

Original article is from the World Socialists: link The foreign interventions adopted since then, in northern Iraq, Syria, Mali, and now soon to come in Libya, mark the return of the German ruling elite to an aggressive imperialist foreign policy. As before the First and Second World Wars, this requires the massive rearmament of the German armed forces. "If we are demanding all of this from our German army, we have to invest in personnel, as well as modern, reliable equipment," Von der Leyen noted in the Bild interview. She would "present this with strong justification to the finance minister." |

Perhaps they have concerns about their eastern border. Nothing like a little dust up in the desert to get the military kinks out. |

Teutons/Slavs always at loggerheads, it seems. And with the ex-KGB guy in charge in Moscow, might be prudent to be wary. The old axiom – 'If ye would have peace, be thou prepared for war.' |

World Socialists? Yeah that's trustworthy news. Sorry guys, just don't see a DAK in the cards just yet. Not even really seriously seeing a European force going to Libya either. |

"mark the return of the German ruling elite to an aggressive imperialist foreign policy." People still talk (write) like this? |

People still talk (write) like this? Such talk is also popular among the American university crowd, who, despite cheerfully paying $50,000 USD/year tuition, don't consider themselves among the elite. |

I just wanted to talk about Wiesels and Leopards in the desert… |
Tgunner | 23 Jan 2016 11:34 a.m. PST |
That could be doable if you want to do it. The Wiesel is used by whatever German airborne forces are left and I would assume that they would be Germany's first choice to send into say Libya. Hey, the Germans have a history in Libya. So do the Fallschirmjagers! I'm thinking if a DAK was to be formed then 31st Fallschirmjager Regiment would be the core of it. link It has about 5 maneuver companies and a 7th Heavy Weapons company with the Wiesels. The problem IMO is the lack of transport. I get the impression this force is straight leg parachute infantry, so it would need some sort of transport in-country. Maybe the Boxer? I'm not sure if this unit has the Boxer, but I could see it being very useful in Libya fighting against ISIS style motorized infantry or in urban actions in Benghazi and Tobruk. So where do you get Weisels and ultra-modern Germans from? 15mm for me please. |
