Don't have to go across the sea to find stupid comments -- have them right here: The governor of Maine has apologized after he said drug dealers with names like "D-Money" were impregnating "white girls". link |

Nashville- Interesting and enlightening story and link. Definitely says that the impregnated girls are "white." However, it gives no racial, religious, ethnic or other description of the drug dealers. Could it be that the complainers are the racists since it is they who bring in a racial component by inferring that the drug dealers are other than white? Sounds like a textbook case of the pot calling the kettle black. (Pun intended.) |

Why is the immediate assumption that the ad was racist??? Japanese women were lightening their complexions with rice powder for centuries before any significant contact with dark complected 'races.' |

Because the ad's slogan presumes having a black face makes you a loser. Most people would regard such value judgements, based on skin colour, to be racist. |

"Most people would regard such value judgements, based on skin colour, to be racist." Exactly right! All people that go to a tanning booth or go outside and lay in the sun to tan themselves are racists. This is why people should be judged based on fact and not "conventional wisdom" or "public opinion." |

Hmm. You sound like one of those guys who doesn't even believe there IS any racism any more. Sad. |

@ zoneofcontrol: sarcasm I'm assuming but surely not an effective example. It's all in the slogan, not the cosmetic act. Some one who feels a tan enhances their health or their appearance would not be a racist. Someone who promotes tans using the slogan, "Black is better than honky white" would probably qualify though. "Sad" indeed. |

Because the ad's slogan presumes having a black face makes you a loser. You should watch the video. It gets worse, and I don't even know what they are saying… |
