Considering this person's idea of "help," that may be a good thing.

She was a good shot, you have to admit!

Even store security is not armed. I should know. grin

At lest her carry permit was revoked.

goragrad01 Jan 2016 1:00 a.m. PST

Too bad they rarely revoke the the carry permits for law enforcement.

She didn't even injure a bystander.

But then, she probably gets out to a range more than once or twice a year.

Deadly force is not an appropriate response to shoplifting.
Anyone who thinks so has no business being armed in public.

"Good gal with a gun."

Right up until she became an idiot with a gun.

goragrad01 Jan 2016 12:11 p.m. PST

I suppose shooting out the tires could be considered the application of deadly force.

Considering the wide range of seemingly minor offenses that have triggered the use of deadly force by law enforcement…

One screw up gets national attention.

When these incidents happen, they make the news each time.

jpattern201 Jan 2016 8:45 p.m. PST

If only it was only one screw-up. Then you wouldn't have to type "THEY" make the news every time.

442 shot and killed in Chicago in 2015. That's not worth covering.

"Too bad they rarely revoke the the carry permits for law enforcement.'

No such thing, perhaps you should know what you're talking about before you post such nonsense.

goragrad04 Jan 2016 9:03 p.m. PST

Sure there is Dn Jackson – it is called a badge.

Perhaps you should be less literal minded.

P.S. Had it been a law enforcement officer doing the shooting it wouldn't have been the application of deadly force for the petty crime of shop lifting. Rather it would have been deadly force applied due to the suspect resisting arrest by fleeing the scene.

Or the officer would have placed himself in front of the vehicle then shot the driver for attempting to run over him – assault with a deadly vehicle weapon…

Situations that occur far more often than that recounted in the OP.

And the officers involved very rarely get more than a paid time off with a return to the force.

Love to see that data source.

"And the officers involved very rarely get more than a paid time off with a return to the force."

Any time they take out a dirtbag they should get a few days off with pay as a thank you.
