So I don't buy it's a great thing, Yes Michael Ironside is freaking awesome ect. but the whole "staying in character" thing just sounds pretentious, and oh look at me I'm hardcore!

Also there is a risk, what if a method actors plays a canibal?

I mean some method actors stay in character during the whole filming.

I guess a movie shoot could make it if a couple of lighting guys or a propp guy goes missing every few weeks while making a movie. But what if Steven Spillberg ends up as lassange? or Christian Bale becomes a suckling pig?

I would think that would be detramental to the filming?

I guess we are lucky Mads Mikkelsen isn't a method actor.

Method acting means I get live ammo.

Method actors try to "become" the characters they're portraying, but only in the figurative sense. It doesn't mean they're going to literally become cannibals when playing Hannibal Lector or Jeffrey Dahmer.

Gunfreak isn't being entirely ridiculous.

Some method actors take things a little far:

Michael Ironside plays pretty much the same character in every movie. It's not method acting if it's real life!

it beats the "smell the fart" method like they use on Chicago PD.

Not impressed by people who get paid to play dress-up and make-believe.frown

I dunno. It could be argued they're smarter than people who do it for free.
