So far, so good. It's been a while since I read the early books, but it "feels right" at any rate. A few quibbles with costuming and equipment of course, but even those could be hand waved away a bit. I still love "Vikings" though – there's room in my heart for two Dark Ages TV series. ;) |

You can NEVER hand wave costume and equipment away! What kind of Wargamer are you anyway!? Glad it has turned out well. I love Cornwell's Dark Age books. So it is good to see them being done well. |

:) The biggest thing that stuck out to me was the Saxons using rectangular shields and fighting like warbands. |

Nice to know that BBC America is showing it before the BBC in the UK. |

Why, in the name of Odin, was it shown in America first?! Who pays the BBC's licence fee, after all?! |

Looking forward to it although the plot line of an individual captured by the Vikings and coming back to the Saxons has echoes of "Vikings". I guess that as Cornwall did it first we can't blame the BBC for that one! I just hope I can unscramble my head to accept whatever make believe history appears in this series in its own context, without the nonsense (all be it entertaining) perpetrated in "Vikings" getting in the way! Anyhow I'm not going to fret about rectangular shields it's just a device to give punters a clue as to which team of hairy men are which – "Vikings" is loaded with that kind of imagery for the non history viewer – best just to laugh it off. If the Danes have horned helmets – then you can throw stuff at the TV! |

One thing I appreciated about the books is that Cornwall would always include an afterwords which told, as best as we know, what historical events he was using in his tale. He freely re-casts Uhtred into those scenes, but apparently attempts to keep the overall events on-track. No idea if the TV series will have the same goal. |

Are they all dressed in drap colors and losts of useless leather here and there?(like in vikings and ALL OTHER movies about medieval europe) |

Good script, but the costume designers need to be taken out and blood-eagled… Though they have got the helmets right at least. But woad? Good grief… Compared to the books it's interesting because the books are told from Uhtred's POV and the programme isn't. Hence Alfred come sout of it looking better and Uhtred (so far) looks much more of a prideful, unthinking bully. |

LOL! This guy is great! I watched some of his other videos and someone out there should give him a TV series, his explanations and delivery are brilliant! |
